That abbreviation was taken from a Michigan board. One of the posters refered to him as The Greatest Coach in College Basketball many years ago. This is how many of us refer to him. He clearly delivers on this moniker game after game.

Not trying to be a dick, just looking for a Michigan fan's insight/perspective into why Sims and Harris didn't play the first 5 minutes of the second half?

The bigger question, in my mind anyhow, is: "have the Michigan fans lost confidence in Beilein's ability as a coach?

It seems to me that his system just doesn't seem to work and he is unwilling to adjust to his talent (or lack of). I really question his dependence on three point shots with a team that can't convert them at an acceptable rate.

The bigger question is how can there be 6 pages of content on a thread titled UM 2009/20010 B-ball?

As a person that has not really gotten in to NCAA hoops, I can say Michigan is half the reason I haven't. If they would have had a more dominant role as I grew older, I'm sure I would've liked it more considering I have loved the game since I was a wee lil' guy.

And yes, Beileine is a jackass that should be fired. I didn't know much about him, but as soon as I found out his offensive game plan is jack up 3s and defensive game plan involves a 1-3-1, I was done with him. The 1-3-1 is a nice gimmick to throw in to a game to throw the team off and such. But how can you think you're going to win championships when you revolve around low percentage shots and a scheme that allows any big man to dominant you?

I don't think I can really take M-Hoops seriously until they either build a new arena or renovate this one to the point you don't recognize it anymore.

I tried to tell everyone that on the fifth post back in December, but no one would listen. :eusa-naughty:

TRapp, just wait until next year. I hear Beilein is going after the top recruit from Duquesne (who has offers from University of Pennsylvania-Indiana and from University of Illinois-Chicago).

He is a 6'1" point guard that averaged 3.2 points per game, which TGCICB he wants to coach up into a power forward.

Michigan became an after thought during the Ellerbe years when there was barely a game a year on tv. And the teams werent any good anyway.

As for Beilien, college basketball is different in that a 3-pt heavy team can have success. It's been done, quite a bit. Ill admit its not a strategy that will turn you into a powerhouse every year, but it can be successful. What I would question is why a team of shooters (who last year actually could make their shots) could go so cold for almost the entire season. That's gotta be on the coach. I do think you cant just completely ignore a post game (besides Sims), which is probably the easiest position to dominate in college basketball and it would obviously have opened up some more looks for the perimeter guys. Even though they couldnt knock down any open ones this season. And no, Gibson probably wasnt much of an answer there either.

And he didnt play much of the 1-3-1 this season anyway, so its a non-issue.

Jacking up threes is basically how cinderella teams win one or two games in the tournament. If you aren't a powerhouse or have the talent, you have to just try to drain treys to keep up. You won't make it to the final four, but you will do better than you would have with any other system with the talent you have, which is the reason you are jacking up threes in the first place. Unless you have three or more first round NBA draft picks on your team, chances are you won't be winning the tournament... ever.

Yes, Cinderella teams play like this to win a game, or two, in the tourney. Cinderella teams usually play in smaller conferences, with similar teams to theirs. The point is here, UMi-AA may not make the tourney again, especially if their coach of three years finally realizes that The Big Televen plays a physical brand of basketball.

My only wish is that the new AD extends his contract another two years above the current extension!

I don't follow college basketball very close, does the winner of the big ten tourney get a NCAA birth?
