Went in today to get my hair cut. The shop was busy and there were a few people ahead of me waiting. Sitting in a chair near me was a person of indeterminate gender. Dressed in women’s clothes and jewelry. But with coarse features and the face of a man. Hair, short, spiky and bright pink. Didn’t look like the person was there for a haircut. Turned out to be the parent of a mouthy kid getting his hair cut, in the chair next to mine. When the kid was finished, the parent paid the bill and left with the kid. Spoke in what sounded like a male voice. When they had gone, I asked the woman doing my hair, “Is that the kid’s father, or mother?” She replied, “Father.”

Creepy.

What do you say to a guy who lost his wife to cancer at 47 years old after a 6 month fight that he hasn't already heard?

Been there. Just tell him you are terribly sorry and if there is anything you can do for him not to hesitate to call you.

"If you want to talk I'm here for you."

All of that seems inappropriate...so I told him we were very sorry for his loss, asked him how he was doing considering the circumstances and when he said good, I remarked about taking it day by day.

i have just discovered my second favourite donair, from busters pizza and donair in leduc ab. my favourite is still from a little pizza joint right beside the ns-nl ferry terminal in north sydney nova scotia. im washing it down with a few(too many) cans of loudmouth soup. beer and donairs wreak havoc on my guts, so if there is a news article of a flight from edmonton to toronto being diverted due to a flatulent passenger........its me.

Greetings from Parkhill, a pretty little town about midway between Stratford and Sarnia ON. Just a few miles inland from L Huron, so there's quite a bit of snow here. This just happens to be near the place where I came for my DXpedition last November on Radio St Helena day. I might even go and have a look today, while I'm in the area. I suspect it will look a lot different in the winter.

Here's how it looked on Nov 14.
